Innovation with tradition

More than 25 years after the first staircase, Stairs Demunster has become an established company with a strong reputation for craftsmanship and quality. With their own sawmill, a modern workshop and a close-knit team, Lieven, Valerie and their staff continue to create durable, innovative and stylish staircases, with a personal touch and an unparalleled passion for wood.

Purchase of our second site at Deerlijk

In 2020, a second site was purchased at Deerlijk. Due to a permanent lack of space for our sawmill and the need to stock and dry a larger quantity of wood, we succeeded in expanding our capacity from now on by 1.5 ha of industrial land. We are systematically renovating the old buildings and working on the most optimal conditions to stock and artificially dry our own stock.

New machines and modern showroom

In 2013, the team and machinery moved to the new section. Additional space was created for a more modern infrastructure, so that craftsmanship could be even better showcased. The showroom also received a thorough makeover, with the goal of providing customers with even better guidance and inspiration.

Room for growth

Due to increasing success and demand, expansion became necessary. In 2009, the farmhouse behind it was purchased, which was demolished two years later to make way for 3,500 square meters of additional work space.

First big step

In October 2001, Stairs Demunster moved into a new 1,000-square-meter workshop. These were challenging early years full of learning moments, working hard to grow and build craftsmanship. In the summer of 2002, Lieven and Valerie built a studio in the workshop so they could literally live and work between the stairs.

The beginning

In January 2000, Lieven and Valerie Trappen founded Demunster from a 320 m² workshop. The first project was still modest, but marked the start of a promising future. In September of the same year, they had to look for a new home. They found it in Heule, where the company is still located today.
